Ards and North Down Borough Council has launched its latest Arts and Heritage programme, unveiling an exciting programme of arts, heritage, music, exhibitions, festivals, workshops and family events taking place across the Borough from September to December 2026.
The Autumn line-up brings together a diverse range of cultural experiences at Ards Arts Centre, North Down Museum and venues throughout the Borough, offering something for all ages and interests. From acclaimed literary events and live music performances to heritage tours, creative learning opportunities and festive family fun.
Among the season's highlights is the return of Aspects Festival, running from 23 September to 4 October, featuring an inspiring line-up of writers, talks, workshops and free events celebrating Irish writing. Families can look forward to the ever-popular Ards Puppet Festival during the October break, while music lovers can enjoy Friday Night Live performances from artists including Wilfie Gilbert, Brigid O'Neill and Ken Haddock.
Heritage enthusiasts can explore the Borough's fascinating past through a range of events including a two-day conference examining new perspectives on the 1798 Rebellion in County Down and guided tours of Bangor Castle as part of European Heritage Open Days.
Visitors to Ards Arts Centre and North Down Museum can also enjoy an extensive programme of exhibitions, showcasing contemporary visual art, local heritage and creative talent through a series of solo, group and community exhibitions.
As the festive season approaches, audiences can enjoy a wide range of Christmas events, including family theatre, seasonal workshops, the return of the Made in AND Christmas Pop-Up Shop and the Creative Peninsula Christmas Fayre. A special highlight will be the Ulster Orchestra On Your Doorstep at Christmas concert in Bangor Abbey, when members of the orchestra will bring festive favourites to this beautiful venue, alongside a special Christmas performance from Northern Ireland Opera at Ards Arts Centre.
